On this day, 152 years ago, Leonhard Seybold and his wife, Katherine (Protz) Seybold arrived at Castle Garden in New York City from Germany. They were passengers on the ship “New Orleans”, and may have been married on-board ship.
Only six days earlier, on May 27, 1857, Joseph Voiland and Felicitée Marie (Sadie) Romond, arrived in New York City from France. They were married shortly before their emigration.
Leonhard and Katherine Seybold’s granddaughter, Dorothy Louise Harris, would marry Joseph and Felicitée Voiland’s grandson, Russell Bernard Weller, on July 15th, 1929. They are my grandparents.
